Homecoming Details

Welcome back Laurel Students! For all of you, coming back to school seems like a time to reconvene with friends, and finally get those brains back to flowing will all the new classes and subjects, but for some older kids it can also mean something else--Homecoming!

Homecoming is always held very shortly after the school year begins. It is a fun night for older students to go out with friends, significant others, or even just themselves and sing and dance their hearts out. This year's homecoming will be held on September 10th, from 7pm-10pm, in the Laurel High school Cafeteria. Freshman through seniors are all invited! And don't worry about bringing someone from another school--it's as easy as just filling out a piece of paper that you can acquire from Mrs. Burke’s room which you can find in the upstairs of the high school, room 401 or 403. No guests are permitted of the age of 21 or older. Sophomores are required to pay their 5 dollar dues in order to attend the dance, also including 5 dollars for a ticket, as well as freshman, juniors, and seniors, which you can also find in Mrs. Burke’s room, or Mrs. Hites who can be located in room 117.

While we get excited for homecoming, let's not forget about the almost full week of school before it. Leading up to homecoming we have spirit week. This year's theme for spirit week consists of Tuesday- Pajama day, Wednesday - Adam Sandler day, Thursday- Country vs Country club, and Friday- color day. For color day seniors are black, juniors are white, sophomores are green, freshmen are blue, 8th grade is purple, and 7th grade is red.

One of the most memorable moments when it comes to homecoming is not the dance itself, but the shopping for clothing attire. The dress, suit, or formal wear that you choose to wear expresses who you are, but let's not forget about the dress code! While being unique we all still have to remember that for ladies, party dresses are preferred, as full-length gowns are too formal. As for the gentleman, dress pants and collared shirts are required, no jeans. Once the night comes to an end we all need to remember to be kind, safe, and responsible. We students and faculty would love to see you there!
