Opening Kickoff!
by Kendra Ruperto
This past Friday, August 26, the Laurel community kicked off the start of the 2022 football season with our annual tailgate. The tailgate was filled with fun games, school spirit performances, and lots of food. The tailgate is the launch to, most would say, the best time of the year! The joy of everyone who gathered together this past Friday really shows the love everyone in the Laurel community has for the school.
Following the tailgate, the boys went face to face with their first opponent of the season, New Brighton. The boys started the game off strong, with Collin Bartley running in the first touchdown of the game, giving the Spartans a 7 point lead in the first three minutes of the game. Finishing the half, the Spartans continued their strong pull on the New Brighton Lions, with a 42 point lead, and a strong defense holding the Lions to zero . The boys ended the game with their first win of the season, a final score of 63 to 7. Quarterback Chase Tinstman was awarded player of the game, finishing with a total of four touchdowns. Following, Ryan DiMuccio ended his night with the honor of play of the game, with his crowd winning blocked punt. We hope to see you out at Laurels next game, September 2nd, as the boys take on their second opponent of the season, the Neshannock Lancers.
