GUIDANCE AND SCHOOL COUNSELING SERVICES
The Laurel Middle-High School provides a comprehensive and confidential array of Guidance and School Counseling Services that have a significant impact on student achievement, emotional well-being, attendance, discipline, and career readiness. Utilizing the American School Counseling Association National Model (https://www.schoolcounselor.org/), the Laurel Middle-High School Counseling services include:
Direct instruction, counseling, appraisal and advisement. Direct services take place in the classroom, small groups and individually with students and families in order to address academic, attendance, social emotional and career readiness needs.
Indirect services of consultation, collaboration, referral and reporting. Consultation and collaboration occur with parents, teachers, administrators and agencies in order to create a safe and comfortable learning environment for each student. Referral & reporting take place as needed to enhance educational and mental health services for students and families.
VOCATIONAL EDUCATION
Students in Grade 9 tour the Lawrence County Career and Technical Center for possible enrollment in one of the vocational education programs. Each handicapped and disadvantaged student who enrolls in a vocational education program will be given the opportunity to participate in a Vocational Assessment Program. No student will be excluded from participating in vocational programs or denied the benefit of vocational programs based on discriminating practices.

If a parent would like to access mental health services, the school can provide assistance. Please contact your child's school counselor for more information.
STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Students assistance refers to programs for teachers, students, administrators, and parents to refer students who are experiencing difficulties academically or behaviorally. For more information contact either Mrs. Gleghorn for the elementary school or Mr. Pertile for the Jr/Sr High School.
