Wounded Warrior Project

by Chelsea Stewart

On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Laurel’s National Honor Society’s Advisors, Mr. Rodgers and Mrs. Skerbetz reached out to some members of the Wounded Warrior Project in New Castle, and arranged for them to come speak to grades 10-12 about what they do, their personal stories, and how the Wounded Warrior project has positively impacted their lives. To prepare for their arrival, National Honor Society Members did a lot of work to make a donation to this organization. They spent weeks of preparation, collecting cans, making homemade chocolate covered Oreos, writing numerous Christmas cards to each of the 30 families receiving baskets, and the presentation of the total donations to those from Wounded Warrior Project. In addition to food donations, National Honor Society raised and donated $300. Laurel’s National Honor Society has been working hard behind the scenes to pull this off and those of us at the Spartan Shield would like to thank everyone who helped make this event possible.
