Veterans Day
by Jackson Sauders
This holiday is the day where everyone in the United States of America honors military veterans who have served or are currently still serving for our country’s military. These men and women put their lives on the line for our freedom, and on November 11th we observe what they have done for us and how much we as a country are very thankful for all they have done. The reason Veterans Day is on the 11th of November is because in 1918, World War I ended with an armistice on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. In 1926 Congress passed a decision for an annual observance on November 11th, however it wasn’t until 1938 that it became an official holiday. Then, under President Eisenhower’s presidency in 1954 he changed the holiday’s name from Armistice Day to Veterans Day. Over the years there have been many songs and events that honor our veterans for the unbelievable job they do.
Thank you to all of our veterans!
