Journalism vs Film
by Jayden Wallace
When planning your classes for next year, consider adding some excitement with Journalism or Film to spice up your schedule!
Film is a college-level course offered by Pitt University, where you can earn a college credit. Available to juniors or seniors, this class involves writing various types of essays, watching a diverse range of movies, and even creating your own movie trailer! This will count as an English credit, or elective, depending on your schedule.
Journalism is a lively, school-spirited class that lets you capture photos of school events, games, and extracurricular activities both during and outside of school hours. These photos will be compiled into the senior movie at the end of the year. Each week, you’ll have the opportunity to create a reel, write an article, or produce a segment for the weekly video announcement. This class does NOT qualify as an English credit, only elective!
Both courses are taught by Mrs. Discello and are often confused with one another. See her with any questions to find out if you’d be a good fit for either class!
