New Art Teacher

by Jayden Wallace

There’s been a lot of new teachers at Laurel, but here’s a little bit about the new art teacher, Mrs. Clingensmith. This is her first year teaching at Laurel however, she has taught art to middle schoolers at New Brighton Middle School. She majored and got her degree in Fine Arts, certified to teach art k-12, and is currently earning her Masters degree in photography through SCAD. Her dream to become an art teacher started in first grade where her own art teacher made a big impact and inspired her. She started taking more art classes which created her journey into the art world. Her favorite type of art is photography and even does food photography as a side job. When it comes to being an art teacher, there are many different types of art but Mrs. Clingensmith’s favorite thing to teach is how to draw realistic faces and eyes. The best thing about being an art teacher in Mrs. Clingensmith’s opinion is the laid back environment and the students ability to work freely and creatively. So say hello to Mrs. Clingensmith, a great addition to the Laurel community.
