Student of the Month

At Laurel, “Student of the Month” is an honorable title to hold. Earning student of the month shows that one has excelled in academics, athletics, and other activities throughout their high school career. In the month of November, Sydney Alfera was chosen as student of the month. Sydney was given a showcase in the lobby to fill with items that represent who she is. In her showcase, Sydney included pictures of her friends, family, and pets. She also included her awards, medals, and letters from her varsity track and swim careers, awards from her participation in Distinguished Young Women her junior year, and awards from forensics. Her favorite high school memory was when she got to pie her friend, Chris Fandozzi, during the 2023 talent show in honor of the successful canned food drive. After high school, Sydney plans to major in biomedical engineering. To underclassmen, Sydney’s advice is to take every opportunity that high school gives you because your hard work will pay off.
