Flexible Instruction Day
by Marissa Lunn
A Flexible Instruction Day is now a possibility to Laurel School District. A FID day is in place of a typical snow day. The FID allows students from the elementary, middle, and high school to participate in all of their classes from home rather than having a day off that will later have to be made up. A cancelation day no longer exists for numerous reasons.
Laurel School District allows students to take Chromebooks home to work on their classwork, so students will be able to do their work from home once again. The FID will allow students to do all of their work from the comfort and safety of their homes during inclement weather, while not having to make up the day later on in the school year. This allows an on time graduation day and prevents make-up days.
For the middle and high school students, the student day will begin at 10:15am. Students are to join the Google Meets via their teachers’ Google Classrooms. This schedule does not follow the typical 2 hour delay schedule, it is and will be an entirely new schedule revolving around the FID.
Students: Be sure to bring home all of your materials—especially your Chromebook—if you know that inclement weather is in the forecast for the following day.
