Softball Recap!

by Hannah Seifert

Hello Laurel community! Shortly after spring began, and the days started to get warmer, we were able to see our Laurel School District spring sports develop, one including our amazing girls softball team! Our softball team consists of 20 talented girls,  seven of them being seniors. Our seniors consist of Grace Zeppelin, Madison Maine, Alexandra Herr, Grace Kissick, Georgia Jellyman, Abbie Miles, and Vanessa Miller.

The girls softball team started their season off with an away scrimmage game, facing the Yough Varsity Lady Cougars. The girls showed the Laurel community how determined they were to get this season started well, by gaining the win against the cougars with an ending score of 10-3, but they didn’t stop there! The Lady Spartans went on to capture 6 more wins out of 7 games. On April 5th the team fell short to Neshannock High School , losing by only 3 runs, but the girls would not let that ruin their season. The girls picked themselves back up after the loss defeating 3 more teams, mercy ruling two of them! The Lady Spartans don't plan on stopping there though. Their next game will be at Shenango high school at 4 o’clock on Friday, April 14th. Following the Friday game, the junior varsity softball team will go on to compete in a 2 day tournament from Saturday the 15th to Sunday the 16th at Neshannock high school. Lets get outside during these warm spring days, and cheer on our Spartan softball team!
