Local Food Drives

by Abigail Richards

Why are food drives important?

Food drives are very important to communities all around the world. They help us provide for our community members. Food drives help feed the hungry and keep stock for soup kitchens and food banks to help feed the famished.

What can I donate?

Donations mostly consist of non-perishable items. Things like canned goods, pasta, ground coffees, teas, and instant boxed foods like mashed potatoes and powdered milk are all great things to donate to your local food drive.

When are food drives most vital?

Food drives are important all the time! But when are they really most prominent? Food drives are vital most when holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas come around. In America, Thanksgiving and Christmas are celebrated with large feasts consisting of several dishes. So why shouldn’t every family have the joy of sitting down and eating a nice festive meal with their loved ones?

I think I’m ready!

Now that you are aware of what a food drive is, what you can donate, and why they are so important, feel free to search for your local community food drive!
